Open Voices is a self-developed conversation card game that I created to spark honest and respectful dialogue about race and religion among youths in Singapore. The idea was inspired by real-life conversations and the lived experiences of friends and peers who had faced misunderstandings, microaggressions, or silence around racial identity. These moments made me realise how rare and necessary safe spaces for dialogue really are.
• I designed and tested the toolkit with facilitators and youth groups, tailoring the questions to reflect local, relatable themes.
• Facilitated sessions showed that youths are ready to engage deeply when given the tools and trust to do so.
• The experience taught me how to hold space for difficult conversations and how to design for both empathy and action.
Moving forward, I hope to expand this toolkit into more schools and adapt it to explore other topics such as gender, privilege, and interfaith understanding.

Breaking Barriers was the first event that I launched Open Voices. It was aimed at targetting racial harmony and racial issues as a whole.
